Reflection of Web Argument

When I first saw what a web argument looked like, I was a little worried but it looked very similar to our multimodal essays so it wasn't so bad. I had a lot of fun with my topic and learned a lot about marijuana. In my essay I wanted my audience, health conscience people, to realize the dangerous effects of marijuana. On the other hand, I wanted the audience to realize that there are medical reasons to use marijuana and they should not be overlooked. I had a little bit of a hard time actually putting my essay into words, but I got through it and enjoyed every bit of research. If I would have had more time I think my overall essay would have been a lot better but since semesters are only a few months I feel we have done so much with all of our papers:)...I'm very glad I took this course and hope that my papers have caused people to think about the issues in every one:)

Reflection of English 105

I really liked this class. The only thing I really had a problem with was how homework was due over our days off from school instead of on the days we have class. That was difficult because I have work on every day I'm not in school so I would forget when blogs were due. This blog is actually late:(. I did like how the rest of the class went..everything else was fun:)..I liked my multimodal the best but hopefully I will have enough time to make my web argument interesting...not sure if I have the time but I will try:). I learned so much more about the computer and I'm glad I did because I have a few computer classes coming up and this new knowledge will help. If I could have worked less over the semester that would be what I would have changed but that wasn't possible.

Synthesis

When I write I find it hard to put all of my thoughts into words that make sense to the audience. I tend to have way too many thoughts about certain topics and I try to make sure I write as many of them down as possible. I really enjoyed creating our multimodal texts because I feel that I got a lot of my thoughts into that essay and I liked including the images in my text. I feel that the pictures added to the text. I also feel that separating the sections of the essay helped organize my thoughts and made it a lot easier for the audience to understand. It was somewhat difficult to place all of the ouside sources into the essay but it was able to be done. Even though it was hard to put all my thoughts into words I found this essay fun:)

My Claim

Marijuana should not be legalized because even though marijuana can be used for medicinal purposes it has many harmful side effects.

Multimodal reflective blog

When I first saw an example of a multimodal essay I was scared. There was so much information in that essay and I didn't think I would have been able to accomplish what I did. My topic was my peers, teacher, and anyone interested in the fitness business. I wanted people to know the role the internet can play in the fitness business. There may be a few negatives to the internet in any business but I wanted the audience to acknowledge the many positives that come with the use of the internet in the fitness business. I was happy that we went over how to use the library from purdue online in class because I would have had a lot of problems trying to find sources. The use of the internet when doing research saves so much time. I would have liked to have had more time for research purposes but I'm happy with my final essay. My favorite part, other than the research, was including pictures into this essay. This essay looks so much better than my hypertext. I had a lot of fun with this essay. The most nerve wrecking part of this essay had to be the podcast. I laughed a lot in class while trying to record and I'm sure I annoyed my partner along with the rest of the class:)..Andy helped calm me enough to get through it without laughing so that was good. I am kind of worried about the interview we have to do at the end of the semester..hopefully I can hold in the laughter:)

Research

When I have a research project I normally find a topic and research. Then I start writing and do more research. Sometimes I end up changing my topic to fit my research. The research is the fun part, the only thing is that it is very time consuming so it is hard to find the time to do as much as research as I would like to. APA formating is used the most often with sources related to social sciences while MLA is used most often for papers that have liberal arts and humanities sources. To be honest I really don't know much about either of them. I've only ever used MLA formating so this will be a new experience.
Citing the authors is an important part of any paper. If any person wants their paper to sound credible then they need to have other peoples findings on the topic in their paper. With out citing the authors that the information was found in then no one will think your paper is factual. The audience needs to have evidence and needs to be able to check that evidence. If the evidence isn'y able to be checked out then how does the audience know that the source you found was credible. Or maybe the author of the paper took certain things out of context and didn't consider the article they found it in as a whole.
